Counsellor in Basingstoke - My Practice
Looking for a Counsellor in Basingstoke?
Based in Basingstoke and North Hampshire, I am an experienced counsellor, having worked in a variety of different settings. I have also worked for over five years providing counselling services within a medical practice.
As a Registered Member and a BACP Senior Accredited therapist, my work is regularly supervised in accordance with expected standards and I work under a defined code of ethics. I have completed formal training in various approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic counselling, and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT). I have also undertaken specific training in couple counselling work.
My first step with any new client is to arrange an informal meeting to discuss your needs and concerns. This also gives us an opportunity to talk and get to know each other. Usually held at Worting House, my consulting room is set in attractive surroundings on the outskirts of Basingstoke, with easy access and ample parking.
Supportive, practical and ethical is the key to my practice. I am not a counsellor who will sit unmoving and silent with an impassive face. Counselling work is serious but there can still be a time in the counselling room for a smile and some occasional laughter. However it is not for me to tell you what to do. That has to be for you to decide. My role is to be alongside you, particularly at difficult times. To reflect, encourage, sometimes to challenge and always to support.
Your first initial assessment meeting with me is free of charge. After this time, my session fees are negotiable and linked to ability to pay. Special rates are applicable for student counsellors. Some clients may also have healthcare cover provided by organisations such as BUPA or Aviva which could meet the cost of appointments with me if referred by the GP or another healthcare professional.
